sick

Where was I? Great run on Wednesday, with great plans for a high mileage week, followed by tiredness, scratchy throat, etc. Thursday at work I felt like I was coming down with something and decided to skip Thursday night's run. Friday morning I woke up and my throat was on fire! I could barely speak as I called in to work to tell them I wouldn't be in.

Mostly, I have slept throug the past three days. Sleep and tea. I couldn't even stay awake for the book on tape I was trying to finish! Today I am finally feeling like I am on the upswing but still have a bit of a scratchy throat. I was determined to get out for some sort of run today, since I obviously had to scrap my (gulp) 17 miler from yesterday. But today it is gloomy and rainy and it just doesn't seem like a good idea to head out there. So I'll take one more day and get some more rest and hope for a good week. I'm nervous about missing a huge run like this. But there is no going back and it isn't like the marathon is tomorrow or anything. Besides, I suppose it is better to get completely better before putting more stress on my body. Generally, I think I have been more consistent with my training than last year. I credit my awesome team!

On the menu for today then: a little more coughing, a lot more tea, a bunch of laundry, and some shopping for this week's healthy meals. Running will return tomorrow!

  1. Take care of yourself. You still have time to get your miles in. Arrive at the start line healthy. Maybe we can run together!
