I've been a bad blogger. But I've been running! And working. I'm so tired! I just got home from my last half marathon before race day. Just 21 days left! I can't believe it is so close.
Last month I got up super early to drive to Queens (yay Queens!) to run 13.1 miles. It was great to be in Queens again and to break up the monotony of the same old routes I've been running. I finished with a time that was 9 minutes and 15 seconds better than my best half marathon time before that!
Last weekend I ran the longest run of my training and the longest I have ever run...20 miles. It took me five hours to do it and I was getting a little bit bored of my four mile loop but I was focused on finishing and not hurting myself and I did both so I guess it is a success. I wasn't feeling my best and think I will likely be a little bit faster than this for the marathon.
This morning I ran just two seconds slower than the Queens race in Staten Island. Two seconds! I MUST get a stop watch that shows seconds after I hit an hour. Once mine hits an hour, I only get hours and minutes. Surely I could have found another three seconds to squeeze out another PR! But really, I'm pleased with the time because I had a headache all morning and felt not so fantastic for the first four miles or so.
Along the route I saw a bunch of my teammates. Unfortunately I wasn't wearing my team shirt. I decided to wear a long sleeved shirt but was concerned about overheating if I wore my team shirt over it. I did kind of regret it a bit because people didn't recognize me. I wish I didn't have to miss so many of the group runs.
Work remains insane because they haven't yet replaced the guy who left last month. So I'm doing his job too! I've been stressed and tired from that and after that and getting home in the dark, I have been slacking too much on my weekday runs. I need to get on that this week.
So far I am remaining injury free. Keep your fingers crossed!
Now it is time for a nap.
