running in the dark

So now it is dark before work and after work. What does that mean? I run in the dark! And now it's starting to get COLD. But it has to get done so last night I headed out in the cold dark night and ran four miles. I nearly lost an eye running into a tree branch but managed to get out alive.

The waft of word burning sparked memories of visiting Grandma and Grandpa for Christmas. They lived in a small town at the end of a dead end street. At Christmas it was reminiscent of Bedford Falls from It's A Wonderful Life. They had a word burning stove that Grandpa kept stoked and it was always toasty in the living room. It was just cozy. And then...I thought of Grandma's cherry pie. The crust was perfect and had sugar sprinkled just so on it. I love cherry pie but, as usual, no one makes it like Grandma. Man, I miss her.

It's supposed to be in the low 40s and rainy all weekend. Not great weather for a 10 mile run. Ugh. I'm going to have to dig out my gloves and balaclava. Let's hope it isn't like this for November 1.

17 days to go! Gulp.
